Predicting Where the Top 5 Young Players Will be in 5 Years

By: Jack McLane

Some of the best players right now are youngsters. Some of those players being Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe. Both of them have been shining right now in the Champions League and their respected leagues (Ligue 1 and Bundesliga). But there are many more players starting to show lots and lots of potential. But now, I am going to try and predict where they will be in 5 years. The players I have chosen are Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, Jadon Sancho, Bukayo Saka, Vinicius Jr.

Vinicius Jr.

Vinicius Jr. is a guy who you see on every team...but better. He has potential, he’s the quickest guy on the field and he’s good right now. A lot of players have so much potential mainly because they have so much room to improve but Vinicius is already good now and a regular player at Real Madrid who is one of the most competitive teams in the world. I think he has much room for improvement and will stay on Real Madrid for a good amount of time. That doesn’t mean I think he will retire there.

Bukayo Saka

Saka is a player I can’t really say I know where he will be. On this list he has the highest boom or bust potential. He can go as far as he is driven by the club and himself. How far that is I don’t really know. But to give you the simple answer I think he will stick with Arsenal for a couple of years, raise his price and be sold somewhere else in Europe. Whether that is Spain or England I’m not entirely sure so I’m going to give you two answers. One for England, and one for Spain. For England it's either Arsenal or Everton, of course if his bust level rises higher than his boom then he will probably end up on Everton in my eyes. Spain, I can see him on either Barcelona or Sevilla.

Jadon Sancho

Sancho is a really strong player who I dislike a little on the inside mainly because of what went down with him and my favorite player, Christian Pulisic while they both were at Borrusia Dortmund. To put it simply both players played the same position and Sancho played more often than Pulisic and Pulisic was then sold to Chelsea. Quick disclaimer, my feelings for this player will not affect my judgement.

I have said this before in articles in the past, Borussia Dortmund is a shopping mall for Bayern Munich. Dortmund famously buys young players and develops them very well and sells them for positive income, forever making them “good enough”. One of those teams that buy those players quite often, is Bayern Munich. The funny thing is that Bayern and Dortmund are the usually the ones competing for first place in the Bundesliga so you would think you wouldn’t sell to your rival. But that’s besides the point. I think Sancho could end up in many places in 5 years but the front runner is either RB Leipzeg, Bayern Munich and Liverpool. I think that my favorite place for Sancho to go is Liverpool but to be fair I think they most likely will stick to their ways and sell within the Bundesliga.

Kylian Mbappe

Mbappe is a name a lot of soccer fans have heard mainly from him dominating the 2018 world cup at 18 years old. And not to mention his team (France) won it that year.

Right now he is a super star on Paris Saint German and I don’t really see him leaving. I envision Mbappe retiring there mainly because PSG is based out of France and he is from France so I don’t really see him wanting to leave because he is “homesick” or something. But, that doesn’t mean there isn't a chance of him leaving. Maybe PSG goes down hill in performance after Angel Di Maria and Neymar leave or retire and Mbappe can’t do it alone. That is a small possibility but also a likely one. So I’ll give you two answers once again. He either retires at PSG or goes to England. Where that is you may ask, well I was thinking none other than Manchester. Which Manchester team is for the future to decide

Erling Haaland

Erling Halland is personally one of my favorite players, just because of how committed he is to be the best. Not only that but he was dominating the Champions League at 20. There were rumors that Chelsea’s Thomas Tuchel told Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich that if Chelsea advanced in the Champions League he would buy Haaland no matter the cost. And guess what, they did. So I’m going to choose the simple answer and take Chelsea. The problem I have with this though is that you have aging Oliver Giroud, Tammy Abraham and Christian Pulisic who Tuchel said he was moving into the false 9 position. And how could I forget Timo Werner. Right now Lampard has dug Chelsea into a hole they can’t get out of.
