What you need: Paper, pencil, shading stump, eraser, and a white gel pen.
First, draw the main outlines. For the eye itself draw an oval that is however big you want it, just make sure that it is realistic in size. Next draw the iris which should barely be touching the outline of the eye. Draw a pupil in the middle of the iris.
Next, add a bit of detail. Draw thick and thin lines connecting to the pupil from the outline of the iris. Draw a thick rim going around the inside of the iris. Make sure that circle is on the outline. For the last part of this step, add a curved line above the eye for an eyelid.
The last step is to add shading and highlights. For the shading, shade the dark circle around the iris into some of the lines, but still leave some white. Next, add a tear duct in the corner of the eye. And lastly, add a small shiny dot with the white gel pen in the upper right of the pupil.
